SPOTIFY CANVAS

How to create and upload your canvas to Spotify

Spotify released ‘Canvas’ a few months ago, a feature that allows artists to share a video of up to 8 seconds in loop to illustrate a song. Something like a moving cover. This video can be seen by the user while listening to a song.

At first, it was a feature reserved only for a few artists, now, Spotify has opened ‘Canvas’ to a larger number of artists. Taking advantage of this occasion, the platform also wanted to make things easy for artists and guide them to the place where they could find graphic designers to prepare these video loops.

SOUNDBETTER – CANVAS DESIGNER

Spotify bought just over a year ago, a platform called SoundBetter where artists and producers can look for and offer talent in addition to collaborating with other artists. From now on, SoundBetter also includes the ‘Canvas Designer’ category in which artists can find graphic designers specialized in creating micro loop videos for Spotify. These graphic designers have the approval of Spotify because of their excellence in previous works withinin the platform.

Spotify confirms that when listeners see a Canvas, they are more likely to keep listening to a song, share it, add it to playlists, save it in the library, and visit the artist’s page.

HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR CANVAS TO SPOTIFY

Video measurements: 9:16 (height of at least 720px)

TIPS

Avoid including text, using annoying images for the viewer, or including people talking/singing as their lips will not match the audio the user is listening to.

If you’re not looking forward to creating your own loop, and you have enough budget, you can follow Spotify’s advice and use SoundBetter to tailor-make one for you.
