Amazon Music has launched a new key feature before any other streaming platform including Spotify. They now are also a live streaming platform, which means that users of the Amazon Music app will now be able to watch live music events together with listening to its big music catalog. Live streaming shows were something impossible to imagine for the industry a few months ago, but now that we have COVID-19 with us, it is something the industry will have to rely on in order to keep making money off shows.
Here is where the different live streaming platforms have a huge role. Facebook already offers the possibility to earn money through live events on its platform and Napster has been bought by a VR company that wants to join the Napster music catalog with a wide variety of music VR live events. What is better than a music streaming platform to offer live streaming music shows?
This new feature is possible thanks to the union of Amazon Music and Twitch which is owned by Amazon since 2014. It is clear that Amazon has every tool it needs to be on the front of all music streaming platforms.
What calls our attention is that Spotify has not say a thing about live streaming events yet…
