¿Cuánto tiempo llevas en la música? / How long have you been singing/songwriting?
GABE: Desde el momento en el que me di cuenta que quería hacer música, a los 14, me considero un artista y compositor. Empecé produciendo por necesidad en los últimos dos años. pero me enamoré en el proceso.
CALLIE: Crecí en una familia extremadamente musical donde vi a mi hermana mayor tocar en un grupo, así que siempre he hecho música. Pero empecé tomándomelo enserio a los 14.
GABE: From the moment I realized I wanted to do music at 14, I considered myself a performer and songwriter. I began producing out of necessity within the last couple of years, but have fallen in love with the process.
CALLIE: I grew up in an extremely musical family where I watched my older sister perform in a band, so I’ve always done it. But I started taking it seriously 14.
¿Cuál diríais que es la mejor canción para que todo el mundo conozca vuestro trabajo? / Which would you say is the best song to make everyone know your work?
CALLIE: Definitivamente, nuestra canción ‘All Night Long’. El año pasado subió al número 36 de los charts virales de Spotify y consiguió más de 13 millones de streams. 🙂
CALLIE: Definitely our song “All Night Long”. Last year it charted in over 36 Spotify Viral Charts and got over 13,000,000 streams. 🙂
¿Cuáles son vuestros planes para el futuro? / What are your plans for the future in the artistic area?
GABE: A parte de seguir grabando y lanzando música, nuestra meta es conectar con fans a a través de la música que hacemos, así que no puedo esperar a salir de gira y compartirlo en persona. Por encima de eso, también hemos estado escribiendo para otros artistas. Por ejemplo, hemos trabajado con Inanna es su último single ‘Best You’ll Ever Have’. Es genial contribuir en otros proyectos.
GABE: Other than to keep recording and releasing music, our goal is to connect with fans through the music we make, so we can’t wait to get out on the road and share it in person.
On top of that we also have been writing a lot for others. For example we got to work with Inanna on her latest single “Best You’ll Ever Have”. It feels great to contribute to other projects.
¿Qué os gusta hacer cuando no estáis haciendo música? / What do you like to do when you are not doing music?
GABE: Para ambos la música era un hobby que se convirtió en profesión así que seguimos aprendiendo a delegar nuestro tiempo. Pero cuando necesitamos tomarnos un respiro, nos encanta viajar. Es una forma genial de resetearnos. Soy un poco nerd también. Intento jugar a videojuegos siempre que puedo.
CALLIE: ¡Me encanta cocinar! Mi abuelo me enseñó cuando era muy pequeña, así que es algo así como otro arte para mi.
GABE: For both of us music was a hobby-turned career, so we’re still learning how to delegate our time. But when we do need to take a break we love traveling. It’s a great way to reset. I’m kind of a super nerd too. I try to fit in video games when I can.
CALLIE: I love cooking! My grandfather taught me at a very young age, so it’s kind of like another art form to me.
¿Qué opináis de la revolución del streaming musical? / What do you think about the streaming revolution in music?
GABE: El streaming ha cambiado el juego completamente de la mejor forma posible. Aún hay algunas cosas que mejorar y obviamente ha habido muchas idas y venidas sobre esas cosas que pulir pero creemos que ha hecho mucho más fácil para los artistas conseguir ser escuchados. Lo que es nuestra meta, ¿no?
No estaríamos haciendo esto a tiempo completo sin el streaming, así que puede que tengamos una preferencia pero estamos extremamente agradecidos a Spotify en concreto por este nuevo ecosistema que han liderado. Ha cambiado literalmente nuestras vidas.
GABE: Streaming has completely changed the game in the best way. There are still some kinks to be worked out, and obviously there has been a lot of back and forth in the media about those kinks, but we think it’s made it that much easier for artists to get heard. Which is always the goal, right?
We wouldn’t be doing this full time without it, so maybe we have a little bit of a bias, but we’re extremely thankful for Spotify in particular for this new eco-system they’ve pioneered. It’s literally changed our lives.
