¿Cuánto tiempo llevas en la música? / How long have you been singing/songwriting?
Llevo escribiendo canciones desde que tenía 13 años. Tan pronto como cogí una guitarra, a mi cabeza llegaron unos acordes y ya estaba, estaba intentando escribir canciones y crear melodías. No sé qué me hizo querer hacerlo en vez de aprenderme un solo de guitarra complicado o engancharme a la teoría musical. No me interesaba ni me interesa aún esa parte de la música. Para mi, la magia es coger la guitarra, mirar por la ventana y dejar que la canción surja… es un proceso muy mágico.
I’ve been writing songs since I was about 13 years old. As soon as I first picked up the guitar and got my head around a few chords, that was it, I was trying to write lyrics and craft melodies. I don’t know what made me want to do it, rather than learning complicated guitar solo’s or getting stuck in to music theory. I really didn’t and still don’t really care about that side of music. To me the magic is about picking up the guitar, gazing out the window and letting the song come through… it’s such a magical process.
¿Cuál dirías que es la mejor canción para que todo el mundo conozca tu trabajo? / Which would you say is the best song to make everyone know your work?
Llevo componiendo lo suficiente como para saber que siempre crees que la última canción que has escrito es ‘la mejor’. No es hasta que das un paso atrás y el tiempo pasa, que puedes hacerte una idea de cuáles son las canciones más fuertes de tu propio catálogo. Como dice Paul McCartney: ‘Cómo se escoge a tu hijo favorito?’. Las canciones son muy personales, como miembros de la familia, son especiales de alguna forma. Acabo de escribir una canción llamada ‘Keep Me Coming Home’ que aparece en el álbum debut de mi banda (The Loft Club). Estoy muy orgulloso de esta canción y el álbum en conjunto para ser sincero. Vamos a lanzarlo en unos meses via ‘So Let’s Talk’ y nuestra discográfica americana Lightyear Entertainment/Caroline/Universal. También hay una canción llamada ‘True Love’ que ha salido muy bien en el estudio y creo que a la gente le gustará escucharla en la radio…. espero 
I’ve been writing long enough to know that you always think the last song you wrote is ‘the best’. It’s not until you step back and time passes, that you can really get an idea of which are the strongest songs within your own catalogue. Like Paul McCartney says: » how do you pick your favourite child?» Songs are so personal, like family members, they’re all special somehow. I just wrote a song called ‘Keep Me Coming Home’ which appears on my bands (The Loft Club) debut album. I’m really proud of this song and the album as a whole to be honest. We’ll be releasing in a few months time via ‘So Let’s Talk’ and our American label Lightyear Entertainment/Caroline/

Como he dicho, mi banda ‘The Loft Club’ tiene un álbum debut preparado para salir lo que es muy emocionante. También estaremos apoyando a Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds el 30 de junio en el castillo de Powderham (en Devon, Inglaterra). Es un ídolo para mi, así que es una locura pensar que estaremos en el cartel con él!
As I said my band ‘The Loft Club’ have a debut album due for release which is hugely exciting. We are also supporting Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Powderham Castle (in Devon, England) on the 30th June. He’s a massive hero of mine, so it’s crazy to think we’ll be on the bill with him!
¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando no estás haciendo música? / What do you like to do when you are not doing music?
Me encanta el futbol, así que cualquier tiempo libre que tengo me gusta jugar partidos. La Champions League ha sido increíble este año. Apoyo al Tottenha, así que para nosotros, lograr nuestra primera final de la Campions League es un sueño. También me gusta pasear por la naturaleza. Relaja mi cerebro y lo aleja del estrés de la vida.
I love football, so any free time I get, I like to catch up on games. The Champions League has been incredible this year. I support Tottenham, so for us to reach our first Champions League Final is just a dream. I also like getting out in to nature and walking. I find it relaxes my brain, away from the stresses of life.
¿Qué opinas de la revolución del streaming musical? / What do you think about the streaming revolution in music?
Es brillante porque te da una plataforma justa para que cualquier artista pueda lanzar su música a la audiencia global. Así que ha creado un campo de juego nivelado en muchos aspectos. Es muy loco pensar que alguien al otro lado del mundo esté escuchando tu nueva canción en su móvil o lo que sea. Estoy muy contento con este remix de ‘Way In To The Sun’ de Florian Paetzold, está empezando a tener buenos streams y acaba de salir. Estamos en una era ciertamente diferente en la música de cuando era más joven y todo eran álbumes físicos, CD’s y Vinilos. La única parte mala es que me preocupa que la gente tenga tantas opciones entre las que escoger que no escuchen los álbumes enteros como yo solía hacer. Espero que los oyentes sigan poniéndose los auriculares y sentarse a escuchar un álbum como una pieza entera, en vez de pasar de tema a tema. Yo sigo escuchando la música así.
It’s brilliant because it gives a fair platform to any artist to be able to get their music out there to a global audience. So it has created a level playing field in many ways. It’s really crazy to think that someone across the other side of the world is listening to your new track on their mobile phone or whatever. I’m really excited about this ‘Way In To The Sun’ remix by Florian Paetzold, it’s already starting streaming well and it’s only just been released. We are certainly in a different age of music to when I was younger and it was all physical albums, CD’s or Vinyl. The only down side is I worry that people have so much choice that they don’t listen to albums in full, like we used to. I hope that music listeners out there still do put on their headphones and sit back and listen to an album as one entire piece, rather than skipping from track to track. I certainly still listen to music that way.

So, Let’s Talk, es una discográfica visionaria dirigida por mi mánager, Scott Shephard. Scott tiene un conocimiento fantástico de la industria de la música y particularmente de la parte relativa al streaming. Hemos lanzado unos cuantos temas con la discográfica y las cosas van muy bien. Hemos sido incluidos recientemente en grandes playlists y todo se debe a la experiencia de Scott. ¡Son tiempos emocionantes!
So, Let’s Talk is a forward thinking label run by my manager Scott Shephard. Scott has a fantastic knowledge of the music industry and particularly with the online streaming side of things. We have released a couple of tracks now on the label and things are going really well. We’ve recently been added to some big playlists and that’s all down to Scott’s expertise. It’s exciting times!
