Disco, funk, soul, house, tech house. Todo desde James Brown y Prince, hasta Led Zeppelin y Allman Brother, pasando por John Mayer y Tom Misch’s. Me encata el hip hop de princioios de los 90, y, por supuesto el R&B. Esta es siempre una pregunta difícil para mi, me encanta mucha música. Y en cuanto a música dance, los principios de Kaskade fueron una inspiración enorme, Eric Prydz y por supuesto, Carl Cox… pero me encanta todo desde Solomun hasta Fisher, Claptone hasta Superlover, especialmente los chicos en directo como Rufus Du Sol y Bob Moses. Si me hace sentir, siempre seré un fan.

Disco, funk, soul, house, tech house. Everything from James Brown and prince, to led Zeppelin and Allman brother, all the way to the John Mayer’s and Tom Misch’s. I love early 90’s hip-hop as well, and of course R&B. This is always a tough question for me as i love so much haha. As for dance music, early Kaskade was a massive inspo, Eric Prydz and of course carl cox…but i love everything from Solomun to Fisher, Claptone to Superlover, especially the live guys like Rufus Du Sol and Bob Moses. If it makes me feel, I’ll always be a fan

¿Cuánto tiempo llevas en la música? / How long have you been singing/producing/songwriting?

Era el niño en la guardería que decía que cuando fuera mayor quería ser un músico exitoso. Empecé con una guitarra con 10 años y estaba escribiendo/cantando a los 12. No empecé a producir o meterme en la música dance hasta hace aproximadamente unos 5 o 6 años.

I was the kid in my kindergarten class who said they’d grow up to be a successful musician. I started with guitar at about 10 and was writing/singing songs by 12. I didn’t start producing or getting into dance music until about 5-6 years ago though.

¿Cuál dirías que es la mejor canción para que todo el mundo conozca tu trabajo? / Which would you say is the best song to make everyone know your work?

Mi tema más popular fue el remix para la canción ‘My Love’ de Route 94. Desafortunadamente, todas mis grabaciones que me encantan y creo que definen mi sonido son inéditas. Pero la buena noticia es que la vida sigue y que ‘Love Rush’ fue el primer single que estrena mi nuevo sonido. Si pudierais ver mi ordenador/Soundcloud privado… daría una mucho mejor descripción jajaja.

My most popular record was a remix for Route 94’s My Love. Unfortunately, all the records i really love, that i believe help define my sound, are still unreleased. But the good news is, the ball is now rolling, and Love Rush was the first single to debut my new sound. If only you could see my computer/private SoundCloud…it would give a much better description hahaha.

¿Cuáles son tus planes para el futuro? / What are your plans for the future in the artistic area?

Me veo siendo más un artista en vivo, encontrando nuevas formas de implementar el mundo de la música real con la música dance. Preferiblemente, mi proyecto se convertirá en una banda de live jam para club nocturno, conmigo cantando un montón de producciones originales, mezcladas con clásicos para acordarnos de por qué nos encanta esta música desde el principio.

I envision myself being more of a live artist, finding new ways to implement the real music world with the dance music. Ideally my project will turn into a live jam band for the night club, with me singing a handful of original productions, mixed with the classics to remind us why we love this music in the first place.

¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando no estás haciendo música? / What do you like to do when you are not doing music?

Normalmente intento seguir un regimen de salud básico, voy al gimnasio/hago yoga. Salir con amigos/conocer a nuevas personas. A veces, salgo sin planes, solo para disfrutar de los pequeños encuentros. Me gusta mucho hablar y aprender de las historias de otros. Soy italiano, así que lógicamente me gusta comer y cocinar (solo odio limpiar los platos jaja). Soy muy fan de los eventos de música en directo, especialmente de los clubs de jazz… aun con todo, soy muy fácil de contentar, puedo encontrar placer en simplemente sentarme en la playa a oir las olas o tumbarme en el sofá viendo una peli. A veces, es bueno para el alma hacer absolutamente nada 🙂

I usually try to follow a basic health regiment of going to the gym/doing yoga. Hanging out with friends/meeting new people. Sometimes I’ll go out with no plans, just to enjoy the little encounters. I really enjoy talking and learning from everyone’s stories. I’m Italian, so obviously eating and cooking (I just hate cleaning the dishes haha). I’m a big fan of live music events, especially jazz clubs…otherwise, I’m pretty easy to please, i can find joy in just sitting on a beach listening to the waves or curling up on the couch watching a movie. Sometimes it’s good for the soul to do absolutely nothing 🙂

¿Qué opinas de la revolución del streaming musical? / What do you think about the streaming revolution in music?

Creo que es una espada de doble filo. Para empezar, es una cosa increíblemente  bonita que artistas independientes o desconocidos en el sótano de sus padres pueda hacer una canción y que millones de personas lo descubran. Es una salida que la generación anterior nunca tuvo y lo apreciamos ciertamente. Spotify solamente, tiene el poder de hacer un artista si quieren. Lo que es increíble. Es casi más poderoso que una discográfica. Todo lo que necesita es una buena canción  e incluso mejores playlists. Pero como en cualquier otro negocio, siempre hay leyes y  políticas con las que tu tienes que jugar, y se puede jugar con todos los sistemas. Por ejemplo, imagínate que Spotify tuviera una discográfica, podrían teóricamente,  darle las mejores posiciones en las mejores playlists a todos sus artistas, garantizando ‘X’ millones de plays y fueran buenas o no las canciones, cumplirían su cuota… y con gastos mínimos, ya que el alcance de su plataforma ya existe. Eso es una herramienta de marketing imparable que las discográficas multinacionales no tienen; sin gastar toneladas de dinero. Gracias a dios pero, hay algoritmos ahora en efecto que permiten a los artistas la capacidad orgánica de crecer y ser descubierto. AL final del día, nada malo puede salir de esto! Es una herramienta increíble que esta generación de creativos tienen más que suerte de tener. Especialmente cuando consideras el hecho de que  el streaming ha ayudado a llenar el vacío de ingresos, desde la caída en las ventas de cedés. Un artista indie puede conseguir un salario de los streams ahora, gracias a Spotify/Apple/Pandora etc.! AL final del día, todos estos altibajos han estado aquí desde el principio de la industria de la música, no es nada nuevo… es solo vestir un disfraz distinto esta vez… 🙂

I think it’s a double-edged sword. First off, it’s an incredibly beautiful thing that an unsigned/unknown artist in his parents’ basement, can make a record and have millions of people discover it. That’s an outlet generation before never had & we certainly appreciate. Spotify solely has the power to make an artist if they want too. Which is incredible. It’s almost more powerful than a record label. All it takes is a good song, and even better play listing. But just like any other business, there are always rules and politics you have to play by. & every system can be gamed. Like imagine if Spotify had a record label? They could theoretically, give the top playlist spots to all of their acts, guaranteeing «x» number of millions of plays, and whether the songs good or not, they’ll meet their quota…and with minimal expenses, since the reach of their platform already exists. That’s a priceless AD/marketing tool that The Major Record labels don’t have; without spending tons of money. Thankfully though, there are now algorithms in effect, which do allow the artists an organic capability to grow and be discovered. At the end of the day, nothing bad will come from this! It’s an incredible tool that this generation of creatives are beyond lucky to have. Especially when you consider the fact that streaming has helped fill a void of income, since the downfall of record sales. An Indie artist can make a really healthy living solely on streams now, thanks to Spotify/Apple/Pandora etc.! At the end of the day, all these up’s and down’s have been around since the beginning of the music industry, its nothing new…it’s just wearing a different costume this time around 🙂
