¿Cuánto tiempo llevas en la música? / How long have you been singing/producing/songwriting?

Empecé tocando la guitarra cuando tenía 10 años, mi abuelo estaba en una banda de blues durante mi infancia. Tras 4 años escribí mi primera canción a los 14. Entonces fui a aprender a tocar la batería, el piano y el saxo. Cuando tenía 16 usé mis ahorros para comprar el software de Logic (programa de edición de audio). Componer ha sido siempre una vía de escape natural para mi. No lo hago por ninguna otra razón más allá del amor puro que tengo a crear música. Cuando alcancé la mayoría de edad mis amigos se iban de fiesta y yo me quedaba en casa con el software Logic haciendo música. Estaba en un grupo llamado Franklin Prior Maurice Amour, giramos por todo Reino Unido y Europa, aunque en Marzo de 2017 decidí salir de la banda y enfocarme en mi carrera en solitario como Maurice Amour. MI primer lanzamiento como Maurice Amor fue ‘ Take Me Back’ que salió en Enero de 2018. Desde entonces he lanzado 7 singles y escrito mi álbum debut que saldrá el próximo marzo con la discográfica holandesa Revanche Records.

I then went on to learn how to play drums, piano and saxophone. When I was 16 I used the money from my paper round to save up for a laptop where I then started teaching myself how to use the software logic. Songwriting has always been a natural escape for me. I don’t do it for any other reason than the pure love I have for creating music. When I reached 18 years old, my friends were partying all the time and I was at home geeking out on logic making music. I was in a band called Franklin Prior Maurice Amour. We toured all over the UK and Europe, however in March 2017 I decided part ways from the band and focus on my solo career as Maurice Amour. My first release as Maurice Amour was «Take Me Back» which came out January 2018. Since then I have put out 7 singles and written my debut album due next March with Netherlands based label Revanche Records.

¿Cuáles son tus planes para el futuro? / What are your plans for the future in the artistic area?

Bueno, una vez el álbum esté en el mercado en marzo, miraremos de girar por Australia, Sudamérica, Europa y el Reino Unido. Vivo en Newquay (Cornwall) así que estoy deseando tocar  en un montón de festivales de UK este verano. Continuaré escribiendo canciones para mi mismo, para un singles de continuación y también seguiré escribiendo canciones para otros artistas y trabajando en sesiones de composición para mi editorial. Estoy muy emocionado de empezar a viajar con mi música y hacer que esto sea un trabajo de jornada completa para mi, Nunca he sido de vivir una vida rutinaria así que no me imagino haciendo otra cosa que no sea música. Es todo lo que he querido hacer siempre con mi vida.

Well, once the album is out in March we will be looking to potentially tour in Australia, South America, Europe, and the UK. I live in Newquay (Cornwall) so I am looking forward to playing a handful of UK festivals in the summer. I will continue to write songs for myself for a follow up single/ep, and I’ll also continue writing songs for other artists, and also working in writing sessions for my publishers. I’m just really stoked to start travelling with my music and making it more off a full time job for me. I’ve never been someone to live a routined life so I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything other than music. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do with my life.

¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando no estás haciendo música? / What do you like to do when you are not doing music?

 Vivo en la playa así que me encanta surfear en mi tiempo libre. Creo que ayuda a vaciar tu mente y tu estado mental. Me encanta trabajar en mi caravana e ir de acampada explorando la costa de Cornwall. Me gusta mucho crear cosas con madera reciclada! Me divierte salir con mis amigos y tocar en las noches de micro abierto en pubs locales para probar mi nueva música. Para ser honesto, ¡paso la mayor parte de mi tiempo haciendo música!

I live on the beach so I love surfing in my free time. I find it really helps with clearing your mind and your mental state. I love working on my camper van and going on campouts exploring the coast of Cornwall. I’m really into building stuff out of recycled wood! I enjoy hanging with friends and playing local open mic nights to trial new music. To be honest though, I spend most of my time doing music!
